It often feels like the aim of this administration is to throw so much all at once that it makes us feel paralyzed. Thanks for the 5 ways to meet the moment. It provides me with concrete steps to take to keep moving forward by faith and refusing to quit. One of my favorite quotes is: “The power of the people is greater than the people in power.” Thanks again for this!
Thank you for this. An action plan that absolutely speaks to rising to this occasion- YOU are leadership we need- and I’m taking this in for better next steps
Thank you Angela. I have watched you since the CNN, Don Lemon, Marc Lamont Hill, Paris Denard "Cheesecake Factory" days and now on Native Land Pod. Thank you for ALWAYS bringing the truth. So much of what you wrote rang true for me. As I wake up to face another day, the injustice runs so deep that it's hard to regain footing; it's like being dazed from a sucker punch. The idea of rage being a projection and being frustrated by your own unknowing brings context to exactly what so many of us are feeling. I watched you on Native Land Pod implore people to see what was happening. This idea of authoritarianism and a dictatorship all seemed so abstract. We get into our normalcy bias of "that could never happen..." It is happening! I saw a clip of Elie Mystal (who was also screaming from the rooftops) on MSNBC saying that "this is what fascism looks like." We are here. I think of my mom and all of the work she did as a Civil Rights activist; protesting and getting arrested, getting in "good trouble." I cannot stand by and let her activism and others from her generation and the generations before and after simply unravel under this soulless and racist administration. I had never heard of "energetic imprint" but it makes so much sense. I find yours similar to mine and I must choose to be "radically different" and "level up" like you write. Thank you so much for all you do. You are and have always been a source of inspiration.
We must do a better job of marketing. There are Black people in advertising and marketing who are excellent at what they do. They have been selling ideas to (predominantly White) Corporate America for years on how to get consumers to become loyal to billion-dollar brands. They are hard-working, creative and committed. What they weren't given was access to whoever was making the decisions on messaging (both during the Harris campaign and the Democratic response to the nation's current mess). Trump and Musk don't just leverage money - they also leverage media, especially social media. They are celebrities who know the value of marketing. We must change the way we fight and use the creativity and expertise of Blacks who are good at what we need most: better messaging.
What our thought leaders need to do is urge us to create, reconnect with and adopt our own values and aesthetic build upon our needs and what works for us.
It is going to take “Revolution” to solve the problems in America, anything less will not and has NOT worked. We must understand that “Voting” is NOT the only source of power in America. All the major victories that my people have achieved in America were not achieved through voting; did we vote to get to vote? The voting act of 1965 was not on the ballot but in was enacted resulting from “Protest”.. Having done all you can, stand for against the wiles of the enemy…
Thank you for this! Thank you for keeping the people informed!
Grateful for you, Angela!
Excellent. Thank you. ❤️
